SRE’s philanthropic endeavors permeate the organization and its stakeholders. From its investors to the communities that it invests in, SRE’s focus on charity and giving back are paramount.

Communities

SRE seeks to contribute time, use of its real estate, and financial donations to organizations in the communities in which it invests

The firm also volunteers its time and resources to various charitable organizations in the Chicago community

Investment Partners

SRE looks to its investment partners to join in their philanthropic efforts, volunteering its time and financial resources in these initiatives

Academic Institutions

SRE supports its academic partners, including real estate programs at many universities from which SRE recruits, through sponsorships of real estate specific events, general donations, and leading or participating on real estate advisory boards

Team

SRE recognizes that individual employees also have their own initiatives and causes; to support employees, the firm has a matching program that matches donations made by employees to 501(c)3 charities

Sustainability Leadership

  • SRE established a Sustainability Committee to lead the firm in its sustainability efforts, implementation of new policies, and refining of existing policies
    • Chaired by the Director of Sustainability; supported by two members of the investment committee and four additional members
    • Current initiatives include:
      • Identifying opportunities to increase NOI through sustainable investments
      • “Green” lease language

Diversity and Inclusion

  • A Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee of the Sustainability Committee oversees SRE’s diversity and inclusion initiatives of the firm
    • The objectives of the subcommittee include:
      • Widening the potential pipeline of applicants for SRE
      • Supporting the diversity of the firm through internal connectivity and affinity groups
    • SRE investors receive the firm’s diversity statistics and metrics
      • 33% of SRE’s investment committee is minority or female
